Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
- ½ cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- About 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Nut meats, raisins, or candied fruits for garnish
Instructions
- Cream the butter, add the sugar gradually.
- Add 1½ cups flour mixed and sifted with baking powder and salt. Then add enough more flour to make a dough that can be handled.
- Chill the dough. Roll thin.
- Garnish with nut meats, raisins, or candied fruits.
- Bake in a moderate oven (375°F).
