Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-04-29
NB Cuisine is operated by Gerard Godin, a private individual based in New Brunswick, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
What we collect
- Email address and language preference — only if you sign up for the newsletter.
- Recipe and photo submissions — whatever you choose to send us through the submission forms (your name and email are optional).
- Error reports — the message you send and the page URL.
- Anonymous interactions — when you tap the heart on a recipe, we count it. We do not link the count to you.
- Aggregate analytics — we use Umami, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool. It records page views and approximate country, but does not use cookies or fingerprinting that identifies individual visitors. The salt used to anonymize visitors rotates daily.
Why we collect it
- To send you the newsletter you asked for.
- To moderate and publish recipe and photo submissions.
- To respond to error reports and other messages.
- To understand which recipes are popular so we can keep building a useful archive.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We use the following service providers to operate the site:
- Supabase — database hosting (recipes, submissions, newsletter subscribers).
- Resend — email delivery (newsletter and confirmation emails).
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Umami — cookieless analytics.
These providers may process data outside Canada (typically in the United States). Each is contractually required to handle your data only on our instructions and in line with applicable law.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe (every email contains a one-click unsubscribe link). Unsubscribed addresses are retained in a suppression list so we don't accidentally email you again.
- Submissions — recipes and photos you contribute are kept indefinitely as part of the archive. If you want a submission removed, contact us.
- Error reports and other messages — kept until the issue is resolved, then deleted within a reasonable period.
Cookies
The public side of NB Cuisine does not use tracking or advertising cookies. The only cookies on the site are strictly necessary cookies used for the administrative area (which is not accessible to public visitors) and a small cookie used by our framework for routing. Our analytics provider (Umami) does not set cookies.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct it.
- Ask us to delete it.
- Withdraw your consent to marketing emails at any time.
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
To exercise any of these rights, email gerard@getgointernetcoaching.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Children
NB Cuisine is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top will reflect the most recent change. Significant changes will be announced in the newsletter.
